Shake and stir your love life!

Vesper

Has your love life left you shaken but not stirred? Fancy mixing it up a bit?

Have you tried ice-cold Moquito? Mai Tai’s post-work or a Whiskey Sour nightcap? That’s right folks,  London Cocktail Week is just around the corner…

What? London Cocktail Week is described as a “unique celebration of our capital’s unrivalled cocktail culture,” and a “festival to inspire, educate and unite cocktail lovers across our brilliant city” so if cocktails do it for you and your date, then listen up! For seven days, 200 bars offer cocktails at just £4 to wristband-wearers and there are special pop-up parties, masterclasses, tastings and special events all over the city.

Many events are free with a £10 wristband, so check out the website for more details. Last year saw 17,451 wristbands collected, eight pop ups temporarily set up shop in Seven Dials in Covent Garden, 176 bespoke events and activities, and 163 bars on the cocktail tours and this year looks set to follow suit!

Highlights include The Duppy Share taking over Harry Gordon’s Bar in Selfridges for a week-long rum punch party pop-up, with exclusive rum blending masterclasses on October 6 and 7. Or you could head to the Cointreau Fizz Garden in the courtyard of The Bluebird Café, where guests could meet Alfred Cointreau, a sixth generation family member of the famous spirit dynasty. If you’re heading out East, then Mark’s Bar at Hixster where you can soak up the decadence of the roaring twenties while sipping on the signature Tanqueray Autumnal Orchard cocktail. In addition, daily master-classes led by Brand Ambassador Tim Homewood, will guide gin lovers on a journey through the history of the spirit, brought to life with experimental cocktails.

When? 6-12 October 2014

Where? All across the city, there will be events in easy reach of Londoners. There are literally 100s to choose from!

Do: Impress your date by requesting a Vesper Martini. Then add, smoothly,  “A dry Martini, in a deep champagne goblet…just a moment, (check message from mi6) three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel.”

Don’t: Think you can avoid the ‘hippy hippy shakes’ after your 4th or 5th cocktail.

Will you be clinking Martini glasses with your date? Do you like yours straight, neat, with a twist or on the rocks? Tell us @lovestruck
