UK Festivals 2014: The Lovestruck Guide

We declare festival season officially OPEN!

But which one? Where? When? Who’s on?

There are more than 300 events in England and Ireland every year for us to get dancing, dirty (literally) and have a blast. Whether you’re dating or single, they can be brilliant fun. So decide which artists you want to see and get buying those tickets!

Here is a rundown of some of the best of 2014 in ‘diary date’ order:

Other highlights: Village green team games, a brass band and a competitive eating contest.

Isle of Wight Festival   IsleOfWight
When is it? June 12-15
Where is it? Isle of Wight
Who is headlining? Biffy Clyro, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Calvin Harris, Kings Of Leon
Who else is performing? Katy B, Tom Odell, Boy George, Alison Moyet, Rudimental
Other highlights: A Butlins Ballroom with silent disco, the Bohemian Woods with hammocks and eclectic performances and the open-air hot tubs.

Glastonbury   Glastonbury

Where is it? Worthy Farm, Pilton
Who is headlining? Kasabian, Arcade Fire, more tbc
Who else is performing? Dolly Parton. Elbow, Lily Allen, Lana Del Ray, Blondie, The Black Keys, Disclosure
Other highlights: Where to start? There are the Theatre and Circus fields, the Kidz Field with castles, aliens and clowns and the Pilton Palais, the festival’s cinema tent.

Hop Farm   HopFarm

Who is headlining? Brian Wilson, Ray Davies

Other highlights: The “Ultimate Indie Disco”, a funfair and special children’s area for families.

Other highlights: Fancy Dress Friday, a fairground and a cabaret club.

Latitude Festival   Latitude

Other highlights: Family yoga, theatre and outdoor performances and DJing for dads.

Other highlights: A VIP treatment with East London hair salon, hypnotists and magicians and gourmet dining.

Other highlights: V-style luxury camping with luxury tents, tipis and beachhut-style pods.

SW4   SW4
When it is? 23-24 August
Where is it? Clapham Common, London
Who is headlining? Above and Beyond, Alesso, deadmau5, Eric Prydz
Who else is performing? Kings of the Underground, Eats Everything, Maya Jane Coles, Heidi, Catz and Dogz, Kim Ann Foxman, Claude Vonstroke
Other highlights: SW4 is all about the music but you can expect exclusive DJ sets and enough top dance music to last you until next year.

Reading and Leeds Festival   Reading

Other highlights: A boutique campsite complete with luxury tipis and yurts, a carnival parade and the Grand Palace of Entertainment, featuring everything from comedy and cabaret to musical bingo.
