We don’t know about you, but we are super-excited about this festival season. Whether you’re off with your mates or with a new partner, chances are you want to look the part.
Christine Fitzgerald Commercial Manager for ShopStyle, tells us how to give the celebs a run for their money in the style stakes and which looks are bang on trend for the big FFO – festival fash-off!
“Festival season is always fun; it’s a great excuse to really let loose with fashion and display your individuality,” she says. “We see some looks come back year in, year out, but no one wants to look like a cliché so I recommend going online and punching in some of these search terms to explore some new looks for this year.”
Here are six key trends she recommends:
White
We know what you’re thinking: if the rain of previous years is anything to go by this could get messy. However, Christine says: “The classic colour is very current, and can simplify any festival outfit. It will also look fab with those denim cut offs – and hopefully with a glowing tan, provided it doesn’t rain at Glastonbury.”
90s style
It’s all about going back a century this year with 90’ style a key trend. Think crop tops, plaid shirts, double denim and chunky shoes. “This is a way to do a different look this year from the usual hippy Glastonbury look,” explains Christine.
Denim
Kate Moss famously donned denim hotpants and Hunter wellies to Glastonbury in 2005 and sparked this famous trend. Christine adds: “Denim shorts are not only practical, but are also a great basic to work with.”
Tie-dye
With florals a little safe and stripes too neutral, Christine recommends tie-dye for giving your clothes that pop of colour. She says: “It is a great way of adding a blast of colour to your festival wardrobe – but be sure to keep it at just one item.”
Round sunglasses and mirrored aviators
Sunnies are an essential festival item and Christine says that rounded frames and mirrored aviators will finish off any festival look perfectly.
Headwear
May people say the bigger and brighter the better when it comes to headbands and
headpieces but many people shy away from this trend. Christine explains: “However, if you’re not keen on head dresses then stick to another festival staple – hats! For this year, I would highly recommend either a classic wide brimmed hat, or a printed cap to keep you cool in the heat.”
Which look will you be rocking this year?
