Date Idea: Win tickets to the Royal Institution’s Late ‘Rules of Attraction’ evening.

Do you often wonder why kids get to do all the fun science stuff? When was the last time you donned a pair of goggles and a white lab coat? Well if you’re a secret science geek or just looking for a totally unique evening out, then we have the perfect date idea for you.

What? The latest Ri Late event explores the rules of attraction, be it by gravitation, chemical bonds or what makes us fall in love. Could you have feelings for a robot? What happens to liquid when you fill it with iron filings?

And what does the shape of a penis tell you about an animal’s social life? The evening not only answers all these questions but is also packed with hands-on workshops, science demonstrations, talks and activities.

Do you fancy having a go at making your own gunpowder? Or creating your own interesting birds of prey headdress and modelling it in a photo booth? Playing with magnets and magnetised silly putty more your thing? Or do you want to simply grab a drink and listen to some live jazz before learning about the psychology of dance and courtship?

Other interesting activities include a demonstration of the latest facial recognition technology from Professor Peter McOwan and his team from Queen Mary’s School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, who will be looking into whether we can flirt with robots; a heart dissection in the special dissection room; and a talk from biologist Sally Le Page, looking at the bizarre jungle of animal sex lives.

When? Friday October 24, 6.30-10.30pm

Where? Royal Institution, 21 Albemarle Street, London, W1S 4BS

How? RT on Twitter or like this on Facebook to win! Strictly 18s and over.

Sounds interesting, no? Is this the kind of date that rocks your world? Tell us @lovestruck
