Top five London Christmas Markets

Yes, we know, we know, Christmas is weeks away but as the nights draw in Christmas markets are popping up all over the place. With food, drinks, goodies on offer, winter_wonderland-738twinkling lights, the smell of evergreen and mulled wine for added atmos, we think it can make a great date.

We’ve listed our top five London Christmas markets:

Southbank Christmas Market
Dates: Now until December 24.

From Queen’s Walk, along the Thames to Waterloo Bridge, this German-style Christmas market is in its sixth year. 80 authentically decorated wooden chalets sell an array of handcrafted gifts and presents, including wooden toys, hand-made soaps and unique jewelry. Also on offer are glasses of German mulled wine, bratwurst sausages, roasted nuts, gingerbread and other treats. The Voicelab choir sings daily at 1.30pm and 7pm.

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park
Dates: November 23 to January 5.

This family-friendly Christmas market has fairground rides, a giant wheel, Santa’s Grotto – and an ice rink, along with all the traditional Christmas market and food and drinks. Other popular features include Zippos Circus and the Spiegel Saloon, a large and festive restaurant. Entry is free but don’t got with an empty wallet.

Christmas Fair at Chelsea Physic Garden
Dates: November 30 to December 1.

Visit London’s oldest Botanic Garden and see Christmas in, Chelsea-style. Stallholders sell everything from cashmere and ceramics, to chutneys, cheese and smoked salmon. The fair is held in heated marquees and food is on offer from the garden’s Tangerine Café.

More London Christmas Market at The Scoop
Dates: December 11 to December 15.

Being held for a second year, this Christmas market will showcase the work of 25 local businesses and design-makers. There will also be young entrepreneurs from the Princes Trust, who are launching their work. The entertainment includes performances from the London Baptist Choir, the Prestige Dhol Indian Drummers and a three-piece jazz band.

Christmas at Kew: The Boutique Market
Dates: November 28 to January 4, 2014.

Visit the stunning Kew Gardens and stroll through the boutique market, selling unique gifts and tempting treats for foodies. The markets forms part of a bigger Christmas event, which included an Illuminated Light Show Trail, A Christmas Village with Santa’s Woodland Grotto, a Victorian carousel and family rides.
