4 Totally Cool Date Ideas

So you’ve met a guy or a girl and you are hoping to impress them with something totally different. If you’ve been scratching your head, looking for a date with the wow factor, we’ve done the legwork for you. Here are some seriously cool date ideas but be warned – tickets to all of these go quickly, so get there first!

If you watched Ben Stiller’s Night At The Museum and were filled with envy, then check this event out. This regular event at the Natural History Museum is for adults only, where guests will set up camp in the shadow of Dippy the diplodocus’ skeleton in the awe-inspiring Hintze Hall.

The evening kicks off with a three-course meal in the museums restaurant, followed by host of events such as science shows, comedy, live music, life-drawing classes in the Darwin Centre, a midnight feast with edible insect tasting and bedtime ghost stories. You can also wander the museum’s galleries and view the amazing exhibits in the dark, with a drink in one hand. Then guests are treated all-night natural horror movie marathon featuring classics like The Birds and Arachnophobia. A full, hot breakfast is served in the morning, before the doors open to the general public. Remember your sleeping bag and onesie and book well in advance – the event on August 22 is sold out; the next event takes place on October 25.

BlackCatBlack Cat Cabaret
Fancy a slightly saucy date? Then listen up. Taking place every Friday and Saturday night, this intimate cabaret show present exclusive acts, from character comedians, street and cabaret singers to high-end performance artists, aerialists, illusionists and magicians, all taking inspiration from Montmartre’s dark and brooding world of cabaret. Also keep an eye out for the Black Cat himself, who goes under many guises…

The events are hosted in the Oscar Wilde Bar of the Hotel Café Royal and the location is a fitting one. Established in 1865, the room has been restored to its original Louis XVI detailing. It’s also the room where Oscar Wilde fell in love with Lord Alfred Douglas, David Bowie retired Ziggy Stardust and Mick Jagger and the Beatles and Elizabeth Taylor danced the night away.

The cast include performers like Dusty Limits, Vicky Butterfly, Rod & Alexandra and Lili La Scala. Tickets are available for the show only; Supper Menu and Show, with drinks and a table all night; or the VIP Supper Menu and Show, which includes drinks service and a table all night, champagne and the best seats in the house. The show finishes around 10pm and there are live DJs and dancing until 2am.

If you’re looking for cool and quirky, then this is the date night for you. No, you don’t need a blue rinse and Zimmer frame for this game of Bingo. Held every second Tuesday of the month is Breakfast Club Bingo, in the Angel branch of the Breakfast Café. Tickets are just £5 and Happy Hour starts at 6pm and the evening runs all night and the menu is a seriously good one, so arrive hungry. They also host Bingo events in their Battersea branch but for all their events space is limited space and tend to sell out quickly, so grab them while you can.

Disappearing09.33.07Disappearing Dining Club
Are you intrigued? Let us fill you in! The Disappearing Dining Club has various options. Back In 5 Minutes is the dining room hidden in a clothes shop in the middle of Brick Lane, behind the curtain and down some stairs. Here they cook seasonal unfussy dishes and the Head Chef Fredrik Bolin draws on his Swedish roots and his time spent running kitchens in London, Stockholm and New York. The venue is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 6.30pm.
Held on the second and fourth Fridays of every month is Town House, held an at 18th Century weaver’s house on Fournier Street. Dinner is server supper club-style on shared tables in the ground floor antiques shop. The ticket includes a welcome drink, four courses and wine with dinner.

Next up is Dinner Dance, held on the first Saturday of every month, taking place in art galleries, photo studies, car parks, abandoned buildings and private homes. Tickets include canapés, cocktails, a four-course meal and DJs and dancing as late as they are allowed. The next Dinner Dance is on October 4th – check out the website for more info.
