Top 7 Questions to Throw Your Date Off-Guard

They look hot in their profile picture, the banter has been good and now the time has come to meet your date. Are you sick and tired of the asking same old questions?

Having some prepared questions for that first date can be very helpful.

Having some prepared questions for that first date can be very helpful.

We’ve decided to get our thinking caps on and come up with some out-of-the-box questions to get your date talking. Who knows, it might reveal more about them than your standard first date chitchat. And besides, it is always handy to have some extra conversation stashed in your back pocket, should there be any awkward silences.

Where is your favourite place in the entire world?
This will gage whether they like holidays (‘Maldives/Mauritius/Greece) or staying at home (‘my sofa/bed/garden’). If you are on the same page this is definitely a good thing. Holidays, or lack of, are definitely in the top three argument topics for my couple pals.

Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
I think you can tell a lot about someone with this question. Parents, teachers and mentors could make good answers. E L James and her Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy on the other hand, perhaps not (unless you’re into that kind of thing, of course).

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?
This will reveal your date’s aspirations, hopes for the future and tell you what sort of personality they have. They may be stuck in a boring job now, but have ambitions to be the next Richard Branson. It’s never good to talk salaries or money but this will tell you everything you need to know.

What are you really passionate about?
This speaks for itself really. Hopefully it will be something you identify with. Either way, there is something very sexy about someone who feels passionately about something. If they grunt, ‘dunno’, maybe reconsider that second date.

Describe the best night of your teenage life…
Less revealing perhaps but brilliant laughter material. A good sense of humour is at the top of virtually everyone’s wish list.

Tell me one thing about yourself, which would surprise me
Again, another one that may disclose more about your date that may meet the eye. You might learn something awesome – or frankly weird – but either way, it’s valuable info.

If you could live of three foods for the rest of your life what would they be?
Apparently people’s choice of food tells you a lot about their views on sex. So the reports go, if someone likes Chinese they are like an acrobat in the bedroom, while if you like vanilla ice-cream you are boring in the sack. Hmm, we’re not sure how exact this science is but a fun conversation topic nonetheless.
