Invisalign
This is a revolutionary way to straighten teeth without the use of wires. Invisalign use a series of transparent aligners made of a thin clear plastic which fit onto your teeth, like a very thin mouth guard. They are nearly invisible and can be easily removed on a date. Invisalign allows you to still enjoy your favourite food and smile without holding back.
Inman Aligner
This is a removable plastic appliance that can straighten your teeth in months not years. It uses a spring and a bar that squeeze teeth into more functional and aesthetic positions. It will only straighten your front teeth but is the fastest system out there.
Lingual braces
The name ‘lingual’ refers to the attachment of a brace on the inner surface of the tooth, inside the mouth, where they cannot be seen. This type of brace is completely undetectable! This means that your teeth may be straightened without the worry that your appearance may be affected during treatment.
How long will treatment take?
The fastest option is the Inman aligner which could be finished in 6 weeks (subject to you wearing it). Depending on the complexity of the problem the other systems can take between 6 to 24 months.
Does it hurt?
Braces may be uncomfortable for a few days. During this time you may take painkillers to reduce the discomfort and place wax over the bracket to make it smoother for the tongue.
Will it affect my speech?
Most people notice a change in their speech, particularly over the first few weeks. This generally improves after an initial period of adaptation.
Will I be able to clean my teeth as normal?
You do need to spend more time cleaning your teeth. It is important to maintain a good standard of oral hygiene. You may need to visit the hygienist to have your teeth cleaned professionally every 3-4 months during treatment.
