This pair appeared to be on rocky ground for a while and now it has been revealed that they have called time on their marriage.
The couple, who wed in 2009 and have three-year-old daughter Betsy together, fell ‘out of love’ and struggled to make it work because of their hectic work and social commitments.
A spokesperson said: ‘The couple remain the best of friends, with their daughter Betsy as their No.1 priority. The family ask for privacy at this time.’
A source told The Sun on Sunday: ‘They’re going their separate ways. It’s very sad but they have grown apart. The distance just became too difficult to overcome. They have grown apart and have fallen out of love.’
Liam Gallagher and Nicole Appleton
After the revelations that Liam had fathered a love child a couple of weeks ago, he has finally opened up about his marriage, saying to his mother-in-law, Mary: ‘Nic deserves better than me.’
Mary told the Sunday Mirror: ‘It was a terrible thing to say – such a horrible cliché. I thought that’s him trying to let her down gently. I knew I would cry.’
Nicole, who fled to the US with the couple’s 12-year-old son Gene when the news emerged, is now refusing to come home. Friends are urging her to dump Liam, while good friend Holly Willoughby has offered her a place to stay.
A pal told The Sun on Sunday: ‘Nicole can’t face seeing Liam yet or heading back to their home. She can’t believe he’s not even spoken to her since calling to say these allegations were coming out.
‘Holly has said Nicole’s welcome to stay at her home in South-West London. Her friends have rallied round her. They think it’s time she called it quits with Liam but she’ll have to decide herself.’

The Atomic Kitten singer has split from her husband who she married six years ago.
The 31 year old said: ‘When I took my wedding vows I thought it would be forever but somehow over the last year we have just fallen out of love and, no matter how hard we try, we can’t get it back.
‘There’s no drink or drugs or anyone else involved. We’ve just grown apart – and that’s the devastating thing. In a way that would be easier. Then there would at least be a solid reason why it ended.
‘Riad is a great dad and he’s still the love of my life. I’m just so incredibly sad.’
