Whether you are celebrating Christmas or not, it’s holiday time and a great time of year to head out on some fun dates with someone new or someone special. There is plenty of festive spirit in the air with lights and decorations aplenty. Here are some ideas for dating events for you and that special someone in your life:
When? December 18-20, 22-27
Where? Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
What? Enjoy this Christmas classic performed by Asia’s leading dance company, lead by Artistic Director Madeleine Onne and danced to Tchaikovsky’s stunning score. Join the magical adventure of Clara and her doll as they battle the evil Rat King and Clara meets a handsome price. Guys – if you treat your date with tickets to this, you will definitely be in favour!
When? Now until mid January
Where? Disneyland Hong Kong, Lantau Island
What? Are you or your dating partner big kids at heart? Then this could be the perfect date outing. Celebrate the holiday season by heading to Disneyland and meeting some beloved Disney family (who will no doubt we singing their favourite carols) and see the Sleeping Beauty castle lit up when it turns dark. The whole park has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland with fluffy snow, twinkling lights, wreaths and decorations and a huge Christmas tree to admire.
When? December 9-28
Where? Open Piazza, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
What? This spectacular 3D light show, running throughout Hong Kong WinterFest has exciting audio-visual effects that will add to the excitement of Christmas. The shows, which each have a special festive theme, run at 8.20pm, 8.45pm, 9.15pm and 9.45pm nightly and each session runs for about eight minutes.
When? December 23, 8pm and December 24, 3pm
Where? Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
What? If you love classical music and you are dating a music fan, then the Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the most prolific in Hong Kong and has a history that stretches back to 1895. For Christmas they are presenting a special ‘Harry Wong Celebrates Christmas’ with a selection of classic festive carols and songs, such as Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite and Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kije from Troika.
When? December 24-27
Where? Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Expo Drive, Wan Chai
What? Welcoming millions of visitors each year and escribed as ‘Hong Kong’s biggest indoor carnival with eat, drink, play and fun elements under one roof,’ the Mega Showcase is enormous and has ten themes under one roof: Homex, e-Expo, Beauty and Healthy Care Zone, Hong Kong Car Show, Hong Kong Foof Festival, DIY Crafts and Creativity Zone, Baby and kids Zone, Trendy Fashion and Accessories Zone and Books, Gifts and Toys Zone. Expect it to be busy, so perhaps this is a date for established couples only (we would hate to be the cause of a break-up!)
What? From December 4 to January 1 2016
Where? All over (see website for details)
What? This annual event run by Hong Kong tourist board features a number of seasonal events, illuminations shows and festive fun.
