6 hot burns night dates

Today is Thursday which is also the new Friday and better still? It’s Burns Night! Do us Londoners need an excuse to party? Do we ‘eck. We’ll happily help our friends in the North celebrate their national poet Robert Burns.

So do away with those first date nerves, don a kilt, be a Braveheart and get stuck in to some good food, whisky and partying!

Ceilidh Club Burns Night

This is London’s biggest Burns Night event, a fun-filled three hours  of energetic ceilidh dancing along with a buffet dinner of haggis, neeps and tatties, plus all the traditional trimmings such as piping in and addressing the haggis…we won’t pretend we know what that means but we’re game if you are?

Streetwise Opera Burns Night Ceilidh

The Ceilidh Tree band is sets the tunes to this traditional night of dance, and it’s all for a good cause too. It’s organised by Streetwise Opera, which is a charity set up to support people that have been or are at risk of homelessness. Don’t worry if you strictly can’t dance,  ‘a caller’ will guide you through the steps and will have you and your date dancing the ‘Flying Scotsman’ in no time.

Burns Night Celebrations at Craft London

Craft London and Compass Box have once again teamed up to offer a fine four-course menu to celebrate. Stevie Parle will be serving up Craft London’s take on the traditional haggis feast and each course will be accompanied by a carefully chosen fine Scotch whisky.

Burns Night on the Rooftop

Swig on a wee dram, get stuck into a er, stuffed sheep’s stomach (this really is Braveheart) and listen to a fiddler on the roof, all from the cosy comfort of a decidedly non-Scottish, Moroccan-themed winter wigwam. Why not?

Burns Night at Fortnum and Mason

F&M is honouring Burn’s night with an indulgent dinner in its Gallery Restaurant. There, you and your date can gorge on a feast of haggis and fine Scottish smoked salmon, all washed down with  fine wine and whisky to the sound of live bagpipes and a man in a kilt.

Burns Night at Temper City

If you’re a lad or lassie in search of an alternative way to toast dear Robbie with your date, head here. Comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli’s hosts this hairy knees up with bagpipe players welcoming guests and a quiz to test your Celtic knowledge.  Try the Irn Bru cocktails, whole mutton supper and deep-fried Mars Bars if your brave heart can take it…
