Top active dates in Hong Kong

Header

Is your 2016 resolution to keep fit still going strong? Doesn’t always fit in with a busy dating life, right? However, fret not, we have scoured the city for fun dates that involve a bit of calorie burning and having fun at the same time. No more excuses. Here they are:

BowlingActivity: Bowling

Tikitiki Bowling Bar

A combination tiki bar and bowling alley, this ten-lane venue in Sai Kung is ideal for an upbeat first or second date. There is no smell of old bowling shoes and dingy lanes here; instead there is a large wooden bar alongside palm trees in the lounge area and a stage for live music performances. The décor is bright and cheerful with a Tiki Tiki island theme and neon bowling pins. Try to stick to the non-alcoholic cocktails (you’ll also stand a better chance of bowling in a straight line!)

HIkersActivity: Hiking

Dragon’s Back Ridge

This is one of the most popular hikes in Hong Kong, so whether you have done it before or not, it is perfect for a date because it is short, simple and very scenic with fabulous views of Tai Long Wan, Stanley, Tai Tam, Shek O and the South China Sea. Take the MTR to Chai Wan and start walking. Head through Cape Collinson Cemetery and after here you can take a one or two-hour hike along the ridge through wooded areas boasting interesting plant life. Remember to take a drink to share because there is nowhere to stop en-route.

SkatingActivity: Ice-skating

Cityplaza Ice Palace

One of the first to open and the longest-running ice skating rink in Hong Kong, Cityplaza Ice Palace is a great place to go and show off your toe curls and arabesques or simply cling onto your date for dear life in an attempt to not fall over. It has great amenities and a variety of skating programmes for all levels – with private lessons available if you want to brush up your skills before your date. Head to the next door restaurant for a drink and bite to eat afterwards – there is a special dining zone here catering for people who are wearing skate boots so you don’t even need to take off your shoes!

SkiingActivity: Ski-ing

PLAY

HK’s biggest indoor ski and snowboard centre in Kwun Tong has three fully automated dry ski slopes, which have an adjustable gradient and a revolving speed of 20km per hour. There is also a stationary slope for beginner’s lessons and tobogganing fun. Boots and boards or skis are provided by PLAY, so all you and your date need to do is turn up and get ski-ing.

KayackingActivity: Kayaking

Aquabound

Kayaking makes a brilliant date because you can see if you really are in tune with your partner (!) The Kayak Tour starts with a quick intro to the equipment and safety before launching off the quiet waters of Stanley Main Beach. You will then complete a three to four-mile round trip along the coastline of Stanley Peninsula and can even go for a dip in the beach of Tung Tau Wan or Pak Sha Wan, if you are feeling brave.

trampoliningActivity: Trampolining

Bounce

You and your date can let your inner children go crazy at this spring-loaded trampoline park with over 100 connected trampolines designed to get your adrenaline going and heart pumping. From wall-running, to aerial manoeuvres, everything goes here. Not only is this a fantastic workout but it will get you buzzing. If you want to show off to your date, there is even a Performance Trampoline. Happy Bouncing!
