Curry lovin’ at Carom

Carom

Are you a curry lover? Do you fancy something hot, spicy and authentically Indian? Then our top tip for January: Head to Carom in Soho for your next date night.

This Pan-Indian restaurant, located in the heart of Soho on Wardour Street, has recently underdone a complete refurbishment, by designers AM Creative. Now a cool and relaxed industrial-inspired space, there are five main areas for guests to enjoy: the Sofa Lounge, the Atrium Lounge, the Communal Dining Table, the Dining Room and the Private Dining Room. We recommend grabbing a drink from the bar and relaxing on one of the sofas in Sofa Lounge, before grabbing one of the cosy booths in the main dining room for a chilled lunch or evening meal.

The classic Carom menu has been updated with an emphasis on sharing, including a unique Navagraha dish inspired by Hindu astrology, which creates the perfect sharing-style dining experience. It features nine sample-sized curry dishes, including Shalgam lamb, Alleppy prawn curry and Paneer saffrani among others. Other sharing boards include a 3.5ft Tiger prawn skewer served with Carom’s bukhara naan and a Goan dip, while singular dishes feature White crab puttu with onion, coconut, curry leaf and shrimp chutney and Kodi Vepudu curry; an Andhra speciality with chicken and cashew nuts. Desserts such as White chocolate and cardamom mousse and Indian opera cake finish off the meal to a tee.

There are also plenty of cocktails to choose from the new cocktail menu. Choose Indian-inspired creations such as Bombay Treacle Club, an interesting blend of Amrut Indian whiskey stirred with coriander, ginger, and apple or a Chutney Cooler using Boudier Saffron gin shaken with homemade chutney, passion fruit puree, lemon juice and ginger ale. Short and strong cocktails include Fig and Mandarin Martini with Stolichnaya Elite, fig liqueur, Mandarin Napoleon and St Germaine elderflower liqueur as well as herb-infused drinks like Rosemary Smash, blending Plymouth gin with peach liqueur, fresh lemon, rosemary, maple syrup and bitters.
